On social media:

Honestly I think that the complaints about how social media breaks/has broken the actual social experience to be overdone and boring. I'm sure that there is an impressive number of the population that has completely given their lives over to it, and become consumed, but those people probably have addictive personalities anyway, and would have just as easily taken up another time-eating activity.

As for myself, I have a Facebook account (of course) and while it hasn’t really gotten me any new friends, I have been able to stay in touch with a few far-away ones that didn’t really translate to email or postcards. I’ll go a few days in a row checking it frequently, and then a week without checking it at all. I also have a Twitter account, but the strange thing is that I can never remember the password for it, so every time I want to sign on I have to make a new one. That is bothersome, and so I’m rarely on there. I do read a fair number of blogs, however, so I think that pushes me into medium social media use.
